“Innovative Radiation Treatments for Breast Cancer Patients”
Thursday, October 11, 2007 5:30 pm at the Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel
Toronto, ON: On average, 429 Canadian women will be diagnosed with breast cancer every week. Each one of these women will have to learn to manage and control their pain, discomfort, side effects and stress while enduring treatment. Radiation oncologist Jean-Philippe Pignol, M.D., Ph.D., is joined by Suzy Cayley and Isabelle Dusastre, directors of the Kelly Shires Breast Cancer Foundation for a public lecture entitled “Innovative Radiation Treatments for Breast Cancer Patients,” on Thursday, October 11, 2007, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel. Together they will discuss the physical, emotional, mental and financial battles those diagnosed face today, and a new radiation technique aimed to maximize the quality of life for breast cancer patients.
The Canadian Association of Radiology Oncology and the Canadian Association of Medical Physicists host the public lecture during their first integrated annual scientific meeting at the Sheraton Centre from October 9 to 13, 2007. The joint conference themed, “Image Guided and Adaptive Radiation Therapy” has already drawn more than 650 attendees including radiation oncologists and residents, medical physicists and physics residents, radiation therapy technologists, scientists, allied health care professionals and industry representatives from Canada’s leading cancer care and research centers, hospitals and businesses.
